MARCH BREAK CAMP
SPRING IS ALMOST SUMMER, WHICH MEANS WE THINK IT'S A GREAT TIME FOR CAMP! (WHO ARE WE KIDDING, WE ALWAYS THINK ITS A GREAT TIME FOR CAMP!) LET YOUR CHILD COME PLAY AND BE ACTIVE WITH US FOR THEIR BREAK.
See you in 2019!
Why is camp a great place for kids to be? There are a lot of answers to this question, and it can vary from person to person, but this is why we love running camp:
- it is a place where kids are outside, allowing them to reconnect with nature and all of the benefits that come with it
- it is a time when kids are moving, active and away from screen time and technology
- it is a setting where social skills (making friends, communication, problem solving, sharing, etc) are developed and practiced in a safe and positive atmosphere
- it gives kids an opportunity to be introduced to new sports, crafts and adventure activities
- it is a setting where free play is encouraged and kids are allowed to just be kids
- it helps build self-confidence and self-esteem by removing academic, athletic and social competition
- it encourages independence by allowing kids to make decisions for themselves without parents and teachers guiding every move
Why a week long Camp?
GO Adventure Co. strongly believes in the importance of running week long camps mainly because all of the benefits mentioned above are enhanced within this structure. The team-like atmosphere that occurs, because of deliberate group development over the five days, allows the kids to feel like that specific week of camp is “theirs” and not just a place they get dropped off each day. Each week also feels different because new campers and new programming creates a different dynamic.
We think that it is important to be creative.
The more variety of experiences children have in their lives, the bigger their range of creative expression will be.
There are many ways that children can be encouraged to be creative: arts and crafts, music, role playing, hands on building, designing, reading, cooking, exploring and other structured activities.
Play (creative play, spontaneous play, self-directed play, etc) is another great medium that allows children an opportunity to be creative, explore new ways of thinking, develop self confidence, share new ideas and participate in problem solving.
We think it is important to encourage children to make their own choices, give them time to embrace the activity and explore their feelings and thoughts towards it.
Adventures and Activities
There is no such thing as a "typical day" at GO Adventure Co. because we focus our programming to be tailored to the dynamics and interests of each group each week. We always come with a plan, but when our GO-ers have input, it always gets better. Activities that are known at GO are:
- Pond time
- Fort Building
- Tag Games
- Nature Walks
- Themed Days
- Jungle Gym
- Water Activities
- Obstacle Courses
- Tree Climbing
- Arts and Crafts
- Team Building
- Scavenger Hunts
- Amazing Race Challenges
- and many more!
OUR STAFF TEAM
While the GO-ers are focused on playing, the GO leaders are focused on supporting them in: experiencing life lessons, having patience, trying new things, supporting others and themselves, positively communicating with others, a safe & creative learning environment, and appreciation of everyone's uniqueness and differences.
Our team brings an array of experiences working with people, especially in a recreation/camp setting. We are all First Aid certified and will always have a staff member on duty with their lifeguard certification. Our team will go through a training program before the start of camp to ensure we are all prepared to offer your kids an epic outdoor experience.
